In contrast to the geographical beauty, poverty in Nicaragua remains pervasive. More Nicaraguans are poor today than in 1993; about half the population lives in poverty and an estimated 17% live in extreme poverty, making Nicaragua one of the poorest countries in Latin America.

The global food crisis, endemic poverty, and limited government programs is endangering the lives of almost one third of Nicaraguans . They are threatened by malnutrition and even starvation. As worldwide food prices soar, the hope of getting just one meal a day is fading for many.

Women’s Team Update

The Northshore Women’s Team of thirteen women, led by Katie Day and Kerri Fredrickson, stepped into cross-cultural ministry as if they had been traveling the world their whole lives.
